The Steere family is fortunate that a concerted effort has been made over the years to maintain accurate documentation of it's genealogy and heritage.  This first began in 1890 with the publishing of James Pierce Root's Steere Genealogy and two subsequent sequels--the John Steere Family Branches (1972) and the John Steere Family Album (1981).  Twenty years has now passed since the Album was produced and it is time to update all of the branches of the family tree.

Electronic media has been chosen for the new method of updating the branches.  This will allow project participants around the world to compile their branches in a standard format and submit their updates in an efficient manner.  Once received, the branch information will then be verified by the originator, archived into the central database, and published to a private web report that can be used by branch members to administer future updates. Computerization will also allow the family tree information to be effectively "backed-up" for safety, and will increase potential capabilities for the use of the information by family members.
